1. ROLE

Depaul Migrant Homeless Action Team supports single individuals and
families from different nationalities, who are homeless or at risk of
homelessness in Dublin. The successful candidate will work as a part
of the Migrant Homeless Action Team, providing case management support
for Non-Irish Nationals, at risk of homelessness and/or in homeless
services, to help them access services they need to address their
housing needs.

2. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

* To work directly with service users, utilising a case management
approach to ensure access to relevant wraparound services needed for
the service user’s progression.
* To advocate and empower service users to overcome various barriers
they encounter, liaise with teams from various services and support
clients to maintain their present accommodation
* Life Skills – Assessment and Practical Support - Building on
existing life skills to empower individuals towards a more independent
setting.
* To advocate for appropriate move-on options for service users to
facilitate and carry out resettlement assessments with clients
* To develop and maintain robust, effective working relationships
with other agencies, using an interagency approach.
* To ensure that all service user’s information is recorded and
stored as required and in line with Data Protection regulations and
Depaul’s Confidentiality Policy.
* To participate fully in meetings within Depaul and with external
services, with the direction and support of the Line Manager.
* To work creatively and exercise initiative to help the service
meet its core objectives and ensure service user’s needs are met.
* To adhere fully to Organisational Health & Safety Policies,
especially in relation to assessing risk and to lone working.
* To at all times undertake the role in a professional manner,
always working in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of the
Depaul.

MAY BE ADDED OVER TIME AND FLEXIBILITY TO COVER FOR OTHER STAFF ROLES
IS REQUIRED FROM TIME TO TIME.

3. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the homeless sector or
another related field. At least one year of this working with and
co-ordinating support plans for service users with complex needs.
(ESSENTIAL)

* An understanding of why people become homeless or may be at risk
of homelessness and the issues they present with. (Essential)
* Experience of interagency working within the voluntary and
statutory sectors (essential)
* Experience of lone working or off-site working (Desirable) A clear
understanding of the case management approach
* Be able to work from a solutions focused, creative approach.
* Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written and
electronic.
* Ability to be flexible and work in a variety of settings, with a
variety of teams.
* An ability to (and understanding of how to) advocate on behalf of
the service users An understanding of the statutory and voluntary
sector services available to homeless people with complex needs.
